In our recent blog posts, we’ve shared recipes for dishes other than hot pot that can be made with the hot pot soup bases we offer. This time, we’d like to introduce a surprising variation: Japanese mixed rice. You can use our hot pot soup bases as is, or you can use the leftover soup from your hot pot meal to make this delicious dish.
Mixed Rice Cooked with Hot Pot Soup Base
Ingredients (1 Japanese cup of rice):
1 Japanese cup of rice (5.3 oz./150 g)
6.76 fl.oz./200 ml of hot pot soup base of your choice
3.5 oz./100 g of your favorite ingredients
Directions:
1. Rinse the rice and drain it. Add the hot pot soup base up to the line marked on your rice cooker.
2. Add your favorite ingredients and mix well. (Maitake mushrooms, shimeji mushrooms, deep-fried tofu, and carrots were used in the photo.)
3. Press the start button and wait until it's ready!
Tips:
Since the soup base has a quite strong flavor, use plenty of ingredients.
Our hot pot soup bases come in a wide variety of flavors and they all taste delicious for this recipe.
You can also get creative with different combinations. For example, try a salt-based soup with salmon and mushrooms, then finish with a pat of butter, or cook a kimchi-based soup with bean sprouts and pork belly.
