Tanabata

Tanabata: The Star Festival (七夕)

Starting June 30th and running until the 7th, join us for the traditional Japanese summer celebration and hang your wishes on a bamboo tree.

What’s Tanabata?

July 7th is one of the most important days where we celebrate the romantic story of two lovers Orihime (Vega) and Hikoboshi (Altair) who are allowed to meet once a year on only this date.

On Tanabata day, people write wishes on small pieces of colored paper which is called Tanazaku and hang on bamboo trees. it’s said your wishes may come true by hanging your wishes on the bamboo trees. Origami ornaments are placed on the trees for decorations. In other words, it is a summer version of the Christmas tree.
