Baggu began producing reusable shopping bags in 2007 with their mission to eliminate unnecessary waste such as single use plastic bags. They've been always focusing on sustainability efforts including designing their products with the minimal waste design by using as little materials as possible, while still caring for their longevity. They've been also trying to use recycled materials as much as they can. Some of their items are made of 100% recycled materials, while the others aren't 100%, but there is a reason. Some of the materials they use aren't 100% recycled because they balance out the sustainability, affordability, and durability of their products. They're trying to do their best for both the consumers and environment. They keep improving their products, so hopefully, in the future, all their products will be made of 100% recycled materials while they're very durable and affordable! They also enclose the information about their manufactures. Their products are ethically manufactured in China, where they have long-standing relationships with their ISO 9001:2015- and ISO 140001-certified manufacturers. These manufacturing facilities are audited yearly by an independent third party, to ensure they are upholding standards of occupational health and safety, and that humane work hours and wages are enforced. Their production team also visits their manufacturers yearly to inspect production and meet the teams producing our bags. For the materials they work with and the price point they design toward, their partners in China offer them the best combination of advanced manufacturing technologies, ethical work practices, and affordable production.

Minimal Waste Design To minimize waste and increase durability, their reusable bags are assembled from one continuous piece of recycled nylon material, with the neck of the bag used to construct the carrying pouch. Recycled Nylon Starting with their Spring 2022 collection, all of their ripstop nylon styles are now made with 100% recycled nylon filament yarn (up from 40% recycled before). This 100% recycled nylon yarn is produced from pre-consumer waste, which saves scrap material from being landfilled — meaning every Standard Baggu is now made entirely from nylon that would otherwise go to a landfill. This also conserves petroleum resources, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Recycled Packaging Standard Baggu packaging is made from FSC-certified 100% recycled paper stock, with non-plastic eco-friendly coatings that are fully recyclable. The mailers they use to ship their orders are made in the US from 100% recycled paper and are fully recyclable.

Jessica Williams is an LA-based painter. Her paintings invent narratives to explore themes of transformation, regeneration, and memory. She works from observations from her immediate environment as well as from photo-based and art historical references. She is interested in the relationship between humanity and nature, remembering and forgetting, desire and dreams.
