New at Maido is Nissin Cup Noodle Original Flavor! Not to be confused with the American branch of Nissin instant noodles, called Cup Noodles (with an ‘s’), Original flavor Cup Noodle is now available in the United States for the first time. Original Cup Noodle is made by the Japanese branch of Nissin, and for an instant noodle is shockingly good. Prepared in the same way as any cup ramen (boiling water and 3 minutes of waiting) the first surprise of Original Cup Noodle is that it looks just like the picture on the label once it is ready. The next surprise are the whole shrimp and liberal chunks of egg, pork, carrot, and green onion dispersed throughout the cup. On top of that, the noodles themselves are fairly long and decently firm, but still soft enough to absorb some of the soy-sauce based broth during the cooking process. All in all, Original Cup Noodle is a delightful instant ramen, perfect for a quick meal on the go or in the office. Be sure to toss it in your cart on your next trip to Maido for groceries and other essentials!
